Student Web Server

The new student web server is students.uis.edu. Each registered student has a web site that is named the same as the student's Net Id.  Ex.The URL for Harold Tarragon with Net ID htarr01s would be http://students.uis.edu/htarr01s . Index.htm is the default page name.

You can ftp your files to your web site by the following ways:

Go to any web browser and type ftp://students.uis.edu
user name: uis\Net ID [ Ex. uis\htarr01s  Make sure you put uis before the NetID ]]
Password: Net ID Password

or

Go to the start menu and select Run
type ftp students.uis.edu
Enter the user name i.e uis\Net ID and the password.

You can publish from Netscape Composer:

URL: http://students/uis.edu/Net ID  (ex., http://students.uis.edu/htarr01s)
User name: uis\[studentnetid] [ Ex. uis\htarr01s ]
Use the password for your NetId

You can publish from MS FrontPage:

Go to the File menu and select Open
Type  http://students.uis.edu/NetID  in the file name location
 [ Ex: http://students.uis.edu/htarr01s ]
Enter the user name: uis\[studentnetid] [ Ex. uis\htarr01s ]
Use your Net ID password
Once you are connected you can compose new pages and save it directly to yout web site.
